“Excellent cocktails and service! The bar team here is incredibly knowledgeable and always experimenting. The complimentary popcorn is a lovely touch too.”
“The lounge is closed for renos but you can still pick up specialty spirits here. Colin helped us choose a Mia Amata Amaro and Crème de Cassis combo as well as Espresso Martini Cocktail Kit. The spirits make a great gift when you don't want to give another bottle of Cab Sav.”
“If you're like me, a unique cocktail lover who wants some quality but uncommon ingredients, this is a great place. After a little tour and tasting experience, I left with some spirits that will be making a debut in home cocktails this holiday season. Including: 1. Port barrel Wallflower gin. Very unique 2. Strawberry gin, (using real local strawberries for flavouring) 3. Creme de Cassis perfect in champagne or on ice cream (this will be fun to experiment with) 4. Smoke & Oak whisky (nice depth, no mix required) I discovered it's under new ownership and management, their impact is already beginning to shine through, I know I'll be returning to see even more of the "upgrades." Sit and sip cocktails inside where you can see the stills while being served by knowledgeable (and creative) staff.”
“Fun distillery experience in the Powell Street area. This place has a lot of different alcohols, including whiskeys, gin, and amaro. They also have a good happy hour to get a few of their signature cocktails cheaper so you can try what they make. And yes, every drink is made fresh in front of you so you can watch the bartenders make all of your cocktails. Definitely a cool spot to check out before heading to some of the restaurants in the area.”
“Did this place change owners/management? Used to adore this place but went back recently and a lot has changed. #1 - They replaced most of the goth/industrial decor with generic couches + brown paint and took off all the art on the wall. Less cozy/funky and a more generic vibe. #2 - Cocktails were still pretty good but none of them seem to come with garnishes anymore. They also didn’t have any (botanical) foam based cocktails, and don’t show you what type of glass your cocktail will come (always loved that detail on the menu!) #3 - They now seem to use some sort of scent spray on top of their drinks to make them seem fragrant for a minute but then it sorta masks /cheapens the actual smell/taste of the flavours in the drink. #4 - Much fewer snack options, only 3 things to choose from and they aren't very substantial. Loved the previous snack selection! Overall it’s not quite the magical/occult East Van gem it used to be! The cocktails are still pretty good, but slightly less innovative/creative. Staff were friendly but the vibe is way less romantic and unique. Yet another establishment succumbs to what I'm starting to call the Main Street-if-ication of Commercial Dr/Powell St/Hastings Sunrise.. hoping they find a way to put the 'odd' back in 'odd society' ;)”
