Modern Filipino BYOB located in East Passyunk, Philadelphia. Chef Lou Boquila is serving a traditional Kamayan feast.
“I had a fantastic time at Perla. I came here for a special occasion and the food did not disappoint. The table was set up Kamayan style with banana leaves on the table and no utensils. The food was brought out in the order of a lightly sweet, soft and fluffy coconut roll, then yummy coconut garlic rice, mixed stir fried veges with a great sauce poured over the rice, then , pork belly, roasted chicken, Lumpia, and a whole fried fish (pompano). There is truly a lot of food, my friend and I both had a take out container filled with food. This is a little pricey for the average person, however it is truly worth it on a special occasion. The experience of the whole thing was very memorable. It ended up being $130 after we added the tip for two people. I would highly recommend coming here.”
“The meal and service were both excellent! The food was so delicious and it was really fun to eat with our hands instead of utensils! I definitely recommend this place for a fun date night or with a large group!”
“Fun dining experience and the food was delicious! We had the Kamayan feast with Lumpia (pork rolls), pork belly, roasted chicken, and a fried whole Pompano fish. The rice and vegetables are delicious in their own right, the whole presentation is very cool. Oh, and there's a lot! We were 3 with appetites and took home 2 meals for later. Service was friendly and the food came out pretty quickly.”
“Incredible meal with very good value. Prepare for a traditional Filipino experience: banana leaves, no utensils, no plates, and no menu - just whatever the chef has prepared for the day! I did their kamayan tasting menu ($54 plus tax and tip), which had a humongous pile of curried vegetables and garlic rice, a very tasted entire fried fish, several large pieces of grilled pork, and a half dozen small lumpia, with three different dipping sauces. On top of this, they brought a pandesal appetizer and a small chocolate pudding dessert. Decor here is somewhat minimal but there are Southeast Asian touches on the walls. A bit difficult but not impossible to maneuver with a wheelchair. Would highly recommend this place.”
“Incredible experience with leftovers enough to last for two days! Everything on the set menu is delicious, from freshly baked bread to the flavorful chocolate budino for desert. Rice, vegetables (cauliflower was one of the tastiest I’ve ever tried!), fish, pork, chicken with the crispiest skin - everything was incredibly scrumptious. And eating with your hands is a fun way to experience this feast.”
